v1.1

A Huracán holds two people and one soft bag, which tells you what sort of day it is for.

Which one to take

What each one is for, and which one gets hired for a week

Lamborghini is hired for a day rather than a week, and almost always for a reason with a date on it.

The Huracán is the one most people mean: a V10, two seats, and the noise that is the entire point. We hold it as a coupé and as a Spyder, which in London is the difference between being heard and being seen. The Aventador is the bigger car, a V12 with the doors that go up, and the LP700 Roadster is the open version of the same thing.

The Urus is the odd one out and the one that gets booked for whole weeks. It is the same theatre in a body that takes five people and their luggage, which makes it the only Lamborghini here that can be the only car you hire.

Self-drive is fully insured and sits in the stricter eligibility tier — 30 to 70, with a licence held five years. Mileage is inside the quoted figure; if the plan involves a long drive, say so when you book so the allowance is set for it. Chauffeured is the usual choice for weddings, birthdays and shoots, where the car is photographed more than it is driven. Delivered to an address in London or to the venue itself — tell us where it needs to be standing, and when.

Both are two-seaters, so the choice is size and theatre rather than practicality. The Huracán is the smaller car, mid-engined with a V10 and conventional doors, and it is the easier of the two to place on a narrow London street. The Aventador is the bigger one: a V12, four-wheel drive, and the scissor doors that are what most people picture when they say Lamborghini. If the day is mostly driving, take the Huracán. If the day is mostly arriving, and the car will be photographed from the front with the doors up, take the Aventador.

Either, and they open in different ways. The Spyder has a fabric roof that folds away electrically, and its rear window lowers on its own, so the V10 can be loud with the roof still up. The LP700 Roadster is the open Aventador, and its roof is two carbon panels that lift out by hand and stow in the front boot. So the Spyder is the one to take if the weather is likely to change during the day, and the Roadster is a decision you make before you set off rather than at a junction.

Only in the Urus. The Huracán, the Huracán Spyder, the Aventador and the LP700 Roadster all seat two, and the front boot holds one soft bag. On the Roadster the two carbon roof panels live in that boot once the roof is off, which leaves nowhere for the bag at all. Soft holdalls and suit carriers travel; hard cases do not. The Urus is the exception, and it is why that one gets booked by the week: five doors including the tailgate, four or five seats, Isofix in the rear and a boot that takes a weekend's luggage.

Not on self-drive. Every car on this page sits in the stricter eligibility tier, which is 30 to 70 with a full licence held for at least five years, and the Urus sits there with the Aventador rather than outside it. Licences are checked at handover rather than taken on trust, and any additional driver is named at booking and checked the same way. Chauffeured is the way round it: there is no age requirement to be driven, and for a birthday or a shoot the car is standing still for most of the day anyway.
