Which one to take
Start with how many people are getting in, and whether you are driving.
Mercedes covers more kinds of day than any other marque here, which is why it is the one most corporate accounts end up standing on.
The S-Class is the executive default, in S500, S580 and the S600 Maybach — the version where the rear seat reclines and the front passenger seat moves out of its way. The V-Class is the same discipline with room for a party of seven or eight, and is what most accounts actually book when the group grows. The EQS is the electric argument: silent at a kerb, and quiet enough that a call taken in the back is a private one.
Then the people carriers, which is where a lot of airport work lands. The V-Class takes seven or eight, the EQV is the electric one, and the Vito takes nine — the number that decides whether a group travels in one vehicle or two. And the 4x4s: the G63 for the days the car is the statement, the GLS for the days it is the luggage.

Those three and the S-Class entry itself are all four-door automatic saloons built around the back seat rather than the driving one, so the difference sits behind you. The S-Class is the generation-neutral listing: four or five seats, rear air vents and a large boot for suitcases. The S500 is the petrol car, five seats, with a boot that holds several large cases. The S580 sits at the top of the range and is specified much the same way. The S600 Maybach is the stretched version, with extended rear legroom, usually two individual chairs in place of a rear bench, and separate rear climate controls.
The Vito: nine seats across three rows, a sliding side door, diesel and air conditioning. Nine is often the number that decides whether a group travels together or takes two cars. Below that the V-Class carries seven or eight, with sliding doors on both sides, an automatic gearbox, rear seats on rails that lift out, and luggage space behind the back row. The GLS seats seven in three rows, though with the third row up the boot is down to hand luggage. Tell us the cases as well as the head count.
Two of them. The EQS is a full-size electric saloon: four doors, five seats, a single-speed automatic and a hatchback boot opening, so luggage goes in more easily than the shape suggests. The EQV is the electric V-Class, with the same sliding doors on both sides, the same seven or eight seats and the same removable rear seats, without the engine noise. Both carry satellite navigation that plans charging stops into the route. Tell us where the day actually goes when you enquire, so the charging is worked out beforehand rather than halfway through it.
Both are offered self-drive as well as chauffeured. The G63 is the upright one: five seats, a side-hinged rear door, permanent four-wheel drive, three differential locks, an automatic gearbox and a modest boot for the size of the car. The GLS is the long-distance answer, with seven seats in three rows, a third row that folds flat and four-wheel drive. Drivers are 25 to 70 with a full licence held three years for most of the fleet, and 30 to 70 with five years for supercars and premium luxury vehicles; which tier a car falls into is confirmed when you enquire.
